CHARLOTTE — The Washington Wizards played for the third time in four days on Wednesday night, and before Tip-Off against the Charlotte Hornets, Scott Brooks indicated fatigue was all but inevitable. The coach wasn’t wrong, but it was doubtful he expected that fatigue to manifest itself in quite such a painful fashion.
The Wizards blew a nine-point lead in the final four minutes of regulation, then offered only nominal resistance in overtime of a 129-124 loss at the Spectrum Center.
Charlotte took the lead for good on point guard Kemba Walker’s three-pointer with 3:20 left in overtime. Backup guard-forward Jeremy Lamb followed with a layup, and Washington got no closer than two points for the remainder of the game.
