Wednesday awaits.

We’d love to tell you that Yoshinobu Yamamoto has made his decision and that he’ll be pitching in the Bronx for the foreseeable future. But it now seems like we won’t hear the news until after Christmas. Stay tuned, I guess.

Today on the site, Andrés will look back on the anniversary of NPB legend Hideki Matsui (21 years ago yesterday!) signing with the Yankees and the excitement surrounding that moment, and Noah will consider if there’s any room on the 2024 roster for underwhelming shortstop-turned-modest utilityman Isiah Kiner-Falefa. Next, I’ll hit up the 1990s/2000s dynasty years for the 45th-ranked player in Yankees history. Finally, Sam will consider Robert Stephenson as a bullpen addition while Peter will argue against repeating the “super bullpen” strategy (as floated by Ken Rosenthal’s rumors the other day).

Questions/Prompts:

1. Were you glad to see the news of Andrew McCutchen running it back with the Pirates? Or should he hang up his cleats fresh off a bounce-back season?

2. How long will the Detroit Pistons’ losing streak last? The hit 24 in a row on Monday night.
