The Vancouver Hotel Destination Association (VHDA) has extended its promotion for stays at 42 participating hotels in the city through April 30, 2023.
Travelers will receive a gift card in the form of up to $250 in Mastercard® pre-paid card with a minimum 2-night stay at the participating hotels.
You must make the booking on VHDA’s StayVancouverHotels website using promo code MASTERCARD. You can pay and guarantee the stay using American Express, Mastercard, or Visa. The final payment will be handled at the hotel!
You can get up to C$250 back per two-night stay (max 3 stays) at Downtown hotels.
For one night stay the association also offers rewards but they are limited to Starbucks Cards, Gas Cards, Apple Cards, Skiing Lift Ticket and Amazon Gift Cards.

There is no cancellation fee if the customer decides to cancel if done so at least 48 hours before check-in, so the reservation is quite flexible.
The rebate is in the form of a Mastercard gift card in CAD that you use towards the stay or other expenses.

The cards are handed over to the guest right at the time of check-in, which makes them very useful. These prepaid cards are designed to be used during your stay in the city.
Some hotels such as the Fairmont Vancouver cost $260 CAD (differs based on date of course) and will get you a $250 MasterCard so that’s basically buy one, get one.

There are quite a few hotels in the selection, and all of them are located in downtown Vancouver. I will be flying to Vancouver next week and might use this offer for a two-night stay somewhere aside from my 4-night reservation at the Hyatt Regency.
Conclusion
These should be considered direct bookings with most if not all hotels that offer loyalty program benefits and points, at least they previously have been.
VHDA has had a similar offer several times, usually around the quieter times of the year.
