Qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix has been postponed and moved to Sunday due to Super Typhoon Hagibis.

The Suzuka circuit will be closed on Saturday, the FIA has confirmed with the battle for pole position set to take place just four hours before Sunday's race.

The final practice session, which would normally take place before qualifying, will be cancelled with the race to go ahead as planned at 2:10 p.m. (5:10am GMT) on Sunday.

Typhoon Hagibis has already left the Rugby World Cup in chaos with England's group decider against France cancelled as it approaches Japan.

The match is to be abandoned without a ball being kicked for the first time the 32 years of the tournament’s history.

Super Typhoon Hagibis is bound for Tokyo and likely to make landfall on Saturday, when England’s fixture was set to take place.

New Zealand vs Italy has also been called off while Sunday's games - including Scotland vs Japan in Yokohama - remain under review.
