‘AEW’ chants become WWE’s Hell in a Cell nightmare

New York Post Sports 2 months ago

WWE fans chanted rival company All Elite Wrestling and called for a refund after a horrible ending at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view between Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt.

Rollins defended his Universal title against The Fiend at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. But fans were left bitterly disappointed as the champion retained his belt after getting himself disqualified.

Frustrated he could not pin Wyatt, Rollins went on a vicious assault with a sledgehammer to attack the challenger in the middle of the ring.

The referee shockingly disqualified the champion — an unusual circumstance for a Hell in The Cell match, which is famous for its brutality. Rollins continued his attack post-match but the tables soon turned as The Fiend got the upper-hand and left his opponent knocked out after delivering a Sister Abigail at ringside.

Fans called for the match to be restarted, but a chorus of boos rung out around the arena after the two wrestlers made their way up the ramp.

There were even chants of AEW, a serious blow to WWE chiefs with Shahid Khan’s promotion gaining serious momentum in the pro wrestling market.

Khan, owner of NFL side Jacksonville Jaguars, has already seen ex-WWE stars Cody Rhodes, Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho join his stable.

Despite the main-event disappointment Becky Lynch beat Sasha Banks in a thrilling Hell in the Cell match for the Raw Women’s Championship.

Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan defeated Luke Harper and Erick Rowan in a Tornado Tag Team Match, while Randy Orton scored a win against Ali.

The Kabuki Warriors became new Women’s Tag Team Champions after upsetting Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss.

The OC were beaten by Viking Raiders and Braun Strowman, but only by disqualification.

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson were taken out by Viking Raiders, but the pair later beat down Strowman causing the DQ.

Chad Gable defeated Baron Corbin after quick roll up pin.

And Charlotte Flair became the new SmackDown Women’s Champion after submitting Bayley with a Figure Eight.
