The 2019-20 NHL season begins Wednesday, Oct. 2, with a four-game slate. We at SportsbookWire will have you covered all season long with single-game breakdowns of each day's biggest matchups. Here, we look at the best bets to walk away at the end of the season with some hardware from the 2020 NHL Awards.

Pick to win: Alain Vigneault, Philadelphia Flyers (+2100)
Vigneault takes over a Flyers team pegged as perennial underachievers. They haven't won their division since 2010-11. They missed the postseason last year and haven't made it past the first round of the playoffs since 2011-12. Philly will have a full year of G Carter Hart and C Kevin Hayes was added to bolster the top six.
The defense is the best it has been in years with stars Ivan Provorov and Shayne Gostisbehere. Travis Sanheim, Justin Braun and Matt Niskanen round out a solid group likely bound for the postseason.

Pick to win: Tyler Seguin, Dallas Stars (+6000)
Seguin dropped off a year ago with 33 goals. The nine-year vet has played all 82 regular-season games three years in a row, and he registered at least 300 shots on goal in each of those seasons. His shooting percentage dipped to 9.9, down from his 11.3% career rate.
He and Jamie Benn are expected to be joined on the top line and power-play unit by marquee free-agent addition Joe Pavelski, forming one of the NHL's top offensive trios.
2019-20 Vezina Trophy Winner

Pick to win: Connor Hellebuyck, Winnipeg Jets (+2200)
Hellebuyck is coming off the worst season of his career with a .913 save percentage and 2.90 goals against average. He allowed a league-high 179 goals on 2,051 shots.
He figures to rank among the league leaders in starts, and he'll get plenty of attention behind a defense now missing Tyler Myers (free agency), Jacob Trouba (trade) and potentially Dustin Byfuglien (possible retirement). The forwards remain strong and the Jets should make the postseason. Hellebuyck will get plenty of credit if he bounces back from a poor 2018-19 campaign.

Pick to win: Artemi Panarin, New York Rangers (+5000)
Panarin is coming off a career-year with the Columbus Blue Jackets in which he scored 28 goals with 59 assists over 79 games played. He went on to further star in the playoffs with 11 points over 10 games as the Blue Jackets moved past the first round for the first time in franchise history.
The 27-year-old will now be the star of a New York Rangers team looking to return to the postseason for the first time since 2016-17. He'll be on the top line with Mika Zibanejad and Pavel Buchnevich and could top both 40 goals and 100 points for the first time.
