Pope Francis accidentally tweets his support for the NFL’s Saints

New York Post Sports 1 month ago

No need for a Hail Mary, as the New Orleans Saints already have some some holy support this week.

Pope Francis appeared to throw his weight behind the Saints on Sunday morning, tweeting, “Today we give thanks to the Lord for our new #Saints. They walked by faith and now we invoke their intercession.”

Thanks to Twitter’s hashtag campaigns, a New Orleans logo emoji showed up next to “Saints.”

In all likelihood, the Pope was celebrating the five new saints that were canonized on Sunday morning, though the message reached far more than his 18 milion followers on the platform.

Among those who celebrated was Saints linebacker Alex Anzalone.

“Wow, are we blessed or what?!??” Anzalone tweeted.

No word yet on how the Pope feels about the Cardinals, though.
