“Gone is the neck straddle where Virtue comes out of an up-thrust with her legs hooked around Moir’s shoulders, hands clasping the back of his head — a kind of sex-chokehold.”

The move reportedly incited soul-searching at The Canadian Press news agency, which was reluctant last month to send out photos of the pose, according to the Star.

Ice dancing, a sport known for the grace and agility of humans who can glide across an ice rink on a very thin blade, is not generally sexy, but sometimes, a move that places the female ice dancer’s vagina in the face of the male ice dancer for, like, two seconds, is,” noted Jezebel.

This is how 30-year-old Moir jokingly described the straddle at nationals last month: “Porno?”

Answer that for yourself. The move comes around the the 2:25 mark.

Here’s what it looked like in Sunday’s routine.

The couple’s show-stopping free program, which has gold medal written all over it, is set to the soundtrack from the 2001 Baz Luhrmann movie starring Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman.

On the ice, Virtue plays Kidman’s character, a beautiful nightclub chanteuse in late 19th century Paris named Satine. Moir plays the McGregor role of Christian, a poor poet who falls in love with the glamorous star.

“I think edgy would probably summarize most of the program quite well and that’s what we were going for,” Virtue told reporters after nationals in January.

“We knew that taking the ice at an Olympic Games again meant that we needed to have a different style. We wanted to make a bit of a different statement. If that was bringing an edge or sexuality or darkness, or a contemporary feel to it, then mission accomplished I guess.”

The new move, Moir said, is actually prettier than the NSFW version.

As TV viewers saw Sunday, he still lifts Virtue onto his shoulders but she stays there only very briefly before she slips back onto the ice.

“What it came down to actually was that when we slowed it down and looked on the video, it wasn’t aesthetically that beautiful of a position,” Moir told the Toronto newspaper last week at the Gangneung Ice Arena after a practice session.

“So we wanted to change it, make it a little bit better.”

The couple will perform again on Feb. 18.
