Max Scherzer sensational for Nationals in Game 2 win over Cardinals

ST. LOUIS — Max Scherzer threw seven no-hit innings to lead the Washington Nationals to a 3-1 victory and a 2-0 series lead over the host St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series on Saturday.

Michael A. Taylor hit a solo homer in the top of the third off Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead. Adam Eaton hit an 2-run double in the eighth that scored Matt Adams and Trea Turner to increase Washington’s lead, 3-0.

Jose Martinez doubled in the bottom of the eighth off Sean Doolittle to plate Paul DeJong with the Cardinals’ only run of the game.
