The Spectator, a British political and humor magazine, became the latest London-based magazine to make a new push into the American market with a US edition that debuted last week with Meghan Markle on the cover.
The magazine itself has been around for 191 years in Britain, making it one of the oldest, if not the oldest continuously, published magazine in the English-speaking world.
The US edition kicked off with a party on October 1 at the NYC apartment of The Spectator’s chairman Andrew Neil, which attracted a large number of political pundits and writers. Among them was George Conway, the Trump bashing writer who is married to top Trump aide Kellyanne Conway, who Trump has dubbed “the husband from hell.”
Kellyanne did not attend and sources said her hubby came and left with Molly Jong-Fast, the daughter of Erica Jong and Jonahtan Fast who wrote the memoir “Girl (Maladjusted)” and “The Social Climbers Handbook.”
At one point they were seen chatting with Rick Wilson, a one-time Republican strategist who is working on a new book, “Running Against the Devil: A Plot to Save America from Trump — Democrats from Themselves.”
Taki Theodoracopulos, onetime partner with Pat Buchanan in The American Conservative mag, was also on hand.
