California mudslides: Gwyneth Paltrow’s luxury £3.6m home and hotel where she married Coldplay’s Chris Martin both devastated by disaster

HOLLYWOOD starlet Gwyneth Paltrow has been hit with double heartbreak as the Californian mudslides destroyed not only her multi-million pound home, but also the hotel where she married Chris Martin.

She only bought the £3.6 million property in 2016, which came complete with ‘Monet-like’ gardens and stunning water features.

Gwyneth Paltrow had not even moved into her luxury home when it was destroyed in the mudslides

Photos of the property show the entire grounds ravaged by thick mud, with awnings torn off by high winds.

The actress was yet to move into the Montecito property, which boasted a large swimming pool too.

In another blow to her, the beautiful boutique hotel where she married Coldplay’s Chris Martin has been all but destroyed.

The couple tied the knot at Willow Cottage on the San Ysidro Ranch in 2003.

The stunning venue has been chosen by numerous high-profile couples over the decades, from Lawrence Olivier's nuptials with Vivien Leigh in 1940, to Jessica Simpson's wedding to Eric Johnson in 2014.

The ranch is so popular that it was the honeymoon destination for the Kennedys after JFK and Jackie O married in 1953.

However today, the ranch has been left devastated, with staff unable to return to assess the scale of damage.

Mudslides in Southern California have already left 17 people dead and trapped hundreds of residents inside their homes.

Terrified locals took to their rooftops hoping to be saved by rescue helicopters as torrents of mud swept cars away and blocked roads in Montecito, north west of Los Angeles leaving dozens injured.

A number of celebrities and high profile names live in the area, a number of whom have taken to Twitter to share their experiences.

Rob Lowe  tweeted: "Mourning the dead in our little town tonight. Praying for the survivors and preparing for whatever may come. #Montecito."

Ellen DeGeneres tweeted a picture of her neighbourhood and wrote: "This is not a river. This is the 101 freeway in my neighbourhood right now. Montecito needs your love and support."
