Hinsdale police blotter: Alert bank teller prevents fraudulent withdrawal

The following items were taken from area police department reports and releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Alcohol

Hector J. Vasquez, 43, of the 21W100 block of Coronet Road, Lombard, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding at 1:35 a.m. Oct. 5 on the 400 block of East Ogden Avenue.

Battery

Justin L. Simon, 38, of the 700 block of South Stough Street, Hinsdale, was charged with domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence at 10:45 p.m. Oct. 3.

Fraud

A 36-year-old resident of the 400 block of North Quincy Street reported at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 5 she had received a phone call from someone claiming to be with the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, who told her she had outstanding warrants and should send money orders over the phone to settle the warrants. The resident bought five money order cards, totaling $2,000, and read the activation numbers over the phone to the person.

A resident of the 400 block of Monroe Street reported Oct. 3 someone had tried to use her identity to withdraw money from a US Bank in Bloomington, Illinois. The person had identification with the resident’s information, but with the their own photo. Bank employees had been alerted to such suspicious activity and asked for additional information to complete the transaction, police said. The person then quickly left the bank and the withdrawal was not completed.

Moving violations

Mario A. Guadalupe, 49, of the first block of West Quincy Street, Westmont, was charged at about 6 a.m. Oct. 2 with driving without a valid license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident at Route 83 and 55th Street.

Manuel Sanchez-Perez, 36, of the first block of Whispering Drive, Naperville, was charged with driving without a valid license, driving an uninsured vehicle and speeding at 12:37 a.m. Oct. 2 on the 600 block of East 55th Street.

Michael L. Caston, 31, of the 3400 block of Jackson Street, Bellwood, was charged with driving while his license was suspended and driving with only one headlight on the 700 block of West 55th Street at 3:55 a.m. Oct. 3.

Arturo Miranda-Munoz, 64, of the 9100 block of West 157th Place, Lowell, Indiana, was charged with driving while his license was suspended and speeding at about 4 a.m. Oct. 4 on the 500 block of West Ogden Avenue.

Leslie Frausto, 20, of the 5700 block of West Hawthorne Ave, Berkeley, was charged with driving while her license was suspended and the vehicle’s registration was suspended at 3:45 a.m. Oct. 6 on the 100 block of West Ogden Avenue.

Theft

A girl’s bicycle, valued at $150, was reported stolen Oct. 7 while it was left unlocked between 8 a.m. Oct. 4 and 5 p.m. Oct. 5 at the bicycle rack at Madison School, at 210 N. Madison St.
