PLYMOUTH, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut woman is in the hospital with serious injuries after being attacked by four of her own large dogs, three of which were shot and killed by police.
WTNH-TV reports that Plymouth police received a 911 call from a neighbor reporting the attack at about 4 p.m. Monday.
Responding officers found all four mastiffs on top of their owner and still acting aggressively.
Area residents were told to stay in their homes while police tried to capture the dogs. They ended up shooting three, and the fourth is now quarantined at animal control. The woman was taken to Waterbury Hospital with what are described as serious injuries. Her name was not made public.
The American Kennel Club says mastiffs can weigh around 200 pounds or more.
