A man who is being sued by his Manhattan landlord for allegedly hosting wild sex parties at his East Village apartment is said to be leading a ‘double life’ as an Orthodox Jew with a wife and three children.
Avraham Adler, 33, was named in a lawsuit last week filed by his landlord.
The owner of the East Village townhouse at 189 East 7th Street alleges that Adler has been using the four-story home to charge people $60 each to attend wild parties that feature swings, group foreplay, and spankings, the New York Post reported.
The property owner, Wonwoo Chang, alleges that ‘sex took place’ in the house during at least two parties, which are thrown almost weekly.
Chang wants a judge to put a halt to the parties.
The landlord allegedly hired a private investigator to look into the matter.
The investigator, James Wang, told Manhattan Supreme Court that one room had a ‘queen-sized bed on which people who were partially clothed in underwear, were engaging in foreplay but not sexual intercourse.’
Wang says that he saw ‘a naked man who sat on a swing was being spanked by two women clad in lingerie.’
He also claims that there were mattresses on the floor and two naked women sitting on a couch.
A Manhattan Supreme Court judge sided with Wang and ordered Adler to shut down the events.
Now it is reported that Adler is an Orthodox Jew who is married with three children and also lives in Clifton, New Jersey.
His wife, Shana Adler, is pregnant with the couple’s fourth child.
‘I want a divorce,’ she told the Post.
‘He is not supporting us whatsoever. He’s cut us off completely. My friends are paying our bills.’
Shana Adler says a number of her husband’s ‘girlfriends’ call her and say that they ‘feel bad about the double life they’re leading.’
She told the Post that she kicked her husband out of their home a few months ago after she found out about his relationship with two women - ‘Nicole’ and ‘Alexa’.
Avraham Adler denies dating either of the women.
Shana Adler says she told her husband to leave ‘for a lot of things I don’t want in the paper.’
She told the Post that her husband is a former student of a New Jersey yeshiva.
The couple also worshipped in ‘multiple congregations’ in New Jersey - which is why Avraham Adler’s reputation as a hellraiser is so surprising.
Neighbors told the Post that police have frequently been called to his Manhattan townhouse because of parties and disputes with his girlfriends.
He has also received fines for parking in front of a fire hydrant.
‘If I pay the fees [fines], why is it anybody’s problem?’ he told the Post.
When asked about his ‘double life’, he told the Post: ‘I’m going through a separation and possibly a divorce.’
