A male nanny was jailed for 30 years for making child sex abuse videos with children in his care.
Travis Elconin, 35, was sentenced at a court in Los Angeles, California on Monday for abusing at least five children.
He filmed sexually explicit clips of the youngsters – most of whom were eight and nine – between August 2016 and November 2019 on an iPhone.
Those clips were then shared with other pedophiles on the dark web, with investigators uncovering 10,000 messages exchanged between Elconin and child abusers in Germany.
The US Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California said: ‘Elconin used his position as a nanny to exploit and abuse the children in his care, holding himself out as the “perfect caretaker,” which induced numerous families – including his friends – to hire him.Woman googled 'I'm going to kill tonight - for fun' before 'murder'
‘Elconin placed advertisements on websites, one of which stated, “I know how important it is as a parent to know that your children are safe when you’re not around. That would by my top priority.”‘
The nanny’s abuse was exposed in November 2018 after German police flagged up the messages he’d been sending to other pedophiles.
Elconin was then investigated by the FBI, who arrested him in January of this year.
A subsequent search of his electronic devices confirmed that he had made the abusive clips with youngsters in his care.
Elconin admitted two counts of producing child pornography in March.
After Elconin is released from jail in 2049, he will be on supervised release for the rest of his life.
