Officials look to book 'better-known bands’ for Montgomery Festival

The village of Montgomery is going to spend about $10,000 more on Montgomery Festival in 2020, partially to lure more popular bands to the fest.

The estimated cost for next year’s event is some $23,000. The 2019 festival, staged in August, cost the village $13,000.

“Over the last few years the board has been working to upgrade the musical entertainment," said Debbie Buchanan, executive assistant with the village.

She said "the board decided to book better-known bands in order to attract more people and improve the whole Montgomery Fest experience for residents and visitors."

The acts which will play at the festival will be announced in the spring, but local band Semple will be still on the list.

The festival will also feature a new configuration which calls for the stage to be placed in a different area of the park.

“Food vendors will be in the street, the new stage will be in the park facing north with people in the grassy area in front of the stage," Buchanan said.

Officials said the new layout will double the seating space available in the grassy area.
