Judge, attorneys meet in case of officer charged with rape

New York Daily News 1 month ago

A judge is meeting with attorneys in the case of a former Wilmington police officer charged with rape, extortion and official misconduct.

Tuesday's office conference comes in advance of a scheduled trial next month for Thomas Oliver Jr.

Oliver was on the police force for 11 years. He was arrested in February after a four-month investigation.

Authorities say Oliver was on duty and in uniform in October 2018 when pulled his patrol car alongside a woman and instructed her to get in.

The woman reported that Oliver exposed himself and told her she had an active warrant for her arrest but that he would let her go if she performed oral sex on him.

Authorities say Oliver allowed the woman to leave after she performed the sex act.
