Manchester's Neighbourhood bar to be revamped and reopened as BLVD

Manchester Evening News 3 weeks ago

Spinningfields nightspot Neighbourhood is to be revamped and reopened next month as BLVD.

The site has been taken over by the owners of Manchester nightclubs including Factory and Impossible.

Tokyo Industries are promising a 'high end drinking and dining concept' offering 'exceptional food and drink' and 'dynamic late-night entertainment'.

The venue, which had a £1m revamp in 2016, is undergoing a light refurbishment, adding touches of graffiti for a look inspired by New York's Meatpacking District.

By day, it will serve a globally-influenced food menu, available from noon until 10pm, while evenings promise a lively mix of cocktails and nightly entertainment.

Aaron Mellor, CEO of Tokyo Industries said: “BLVD Manchester will bring to the city a captivating and modern destination, focusing on premium service.

"We wanted to create a super-slick, all-day venue, reminiscent of those found in New York and Los Angeles, artfully blending together a luxe dining room and chic cocktail lounge to create a superior experience."

BLVD will open in Spinningfields in the old Neighbourhood site

The site has stood empty since April, when Neighbourhood - then under different ownership - had its licence revoked after a stabbing.

The bar had previously been ordered to install a knife arch at the entrance and serve drinks in plastic cups after 10pm following an earlier incident in which a customer with a knife was hit in the face by a bouncer with a glass bottle.

Tokyo Industries confirmed it had bought the bar from previous owners East Coast Developments last month.

Tokyo owns 36 venues around the UK, including Impossible, Factory, South, Whiskey Down and Red’s True Barbecue in Manchester.

BLVD is due to open in November.
