Florida teen accidentally shot by Uber driver

An Uber driver is facing charges after he accidentally shot his passenger while trying to move his gun, Florida police said.

Adrian Harper, 27, has been charged with culpable negligence inflicting harm after he shot his 15-year-old passenger, Bailey Braun, in Hollywood, according to NBC 6.

Harper told police that he was trying to move the gun from his seat to his holster as he was picking up two more passengers in an Uber Pool Sunday when he accidentally pulled the trigger.

“We just hear a bang, and our ears started ringing,” Braun, who was riding with her boyfriend, told NBC 6. “I didn’t feel anything yet, and when I go to get out I lift up my leg and I just see blood pouring out.”

Harper had a concealed carry license for the gun, but Uber bans firearms for both riders and drivers, according to company legal policies.

“This is deeply troubling, and our thoughts are with the rider and her family as she recovers,” Uber said in a statement.

Harper has been suspended from the Uber app and the ride-sharing company said it is cooperating with law enforcement.

Braun was shot in the ankle, but the bullet missed any bone or muscle.
