Kurds Blame Turkey for Hindering Exit From Syrian Border Area

Kurdish forces accused Turkey and its allies of blocking their withdrawal from parts of northeastern Syria despite Ankara’s insistence that Syrian Kurds leave the border region under a cease-fire pact negotiated with the U.S.

Ankara agreed Thursday to a five-day truce, during which the Syrian Kurds are expected to withdraw from an area Turkey has defined as a safe zone along the two nations’ borders. Both sides have accused each other of violating the cease-fire, with a key border town at the center of the fighting.
