Harry Dunn’s family beg to know if diplomat wife’s immunity was a ‘c**k up’ after she ADMITS driving on wrong side of road

HARRY Dunn’s family have today begged to know if the immunity given to the diplomat’s wife accused of killing their son was a “c**k up” – as she admits driving on the wrong side of the road.

American suspect Anne Sacoolas – the wife of a US spy – was granted diplomatic immunity after 19-year-old Harry’s fatal road crash.

A family spokesman said this morning an official probe will look into advice given by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to Northamptonshire Police in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Radd Seiger said the family want to know “whether somebody c**ked up or whether they were put under pressure by the Americans to concede”.

Harry was killed in August when his motorbike smashed into a car driven by Sacoolas outside an RAF base used by the US military.

Sacoolas, 42, from Virginia, later fled back to America and is using her husband Jonathan’s diplomatic immunity to evade prosecution.

WRONG SIDE

She released a statement at the weekend expressing her sorrow – her first public comments in the seven weeks following the crash.

And last night the mum-of-three admitted she was driving on the wrong side of the road moments before the horror crash.

But Harry’s devastated mum Charlotte Charles said in New York yesterday: “We feel that statement should have come out right from the beginning instead of getting on a plane and running home.”

Grieving dad Tim Dunn added: “Our boy died and he deserves to have some justice. That’s all we want.”

Mr Seiger said the family’s lawyers are now prepared to launch a full investigation into the FCO over their involvement in the decision to grant immunity to Sacoolas.

He said: “We are going to write to the FCO very shortly, explaining that we don’t want to do a judicial review, but to avoid that please let us have the following documents – all e-mails, messages, notes in relation to your advice to Northamptonshire Police that this lady had it (diplomatic immunity).

JUDICIAL REVIEW

“What we don’t know is whether somebody c***ed up or whether they were put under pressure by the Americans to concede.

“We want to conduct an investigation into the FCO’s decision to advise Northamptonshire Police that this lady had the benefit of diplomatic immunity.

“If we’re not satisfied, then we’ll go to a judicial review and ask a High Court judge to review it all.”

Sacoolas allegedly hit 19-year-old Harry with her Volvo SUV on August 27 outside a US spy station in Northamptonshire – after driving on the wrong side of the road for up to 400 yards.

CCTV is said to show her driving out of RAF Croughton on the wrong side of the road – before a “fireball” erupted on impact.

Sacoolas was then spirited from UK soil on a state-sponsored private jet from America’s air base in Suffolk, RAF Mildenhall.

She last night released a statement to say she is “terribly, terribly sorry” for causing the tragedy.

But she claims she stayed at the scene after the head-on collision outside – and told Harry she would call for help.

Anne was driving on the wrong side of the road and is terribly, terribly sorry for that tragic mistake

Lawyers for Anne Sacoolas

Harry’s family yesterday arrived in New York on a whistle-stop tour of US news outlets – in a bid to pile pressure on American authorities.

They also pleaded with US President Donald Trump to intervene.

Trump has so far refused to send Sacoolas back to Britain.

Boris Johnson has urged Sacoolas to return to the UK and said he doesn’t think it’s right to “use the process of diplomatic immunity for this type of purpose.”

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said that “immunity is no longer pertinent” because Sacoolas has left the country.
