COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State is playing like the best college football team in the country after six games.
But head coach Ryan Day said Monday that there’s still an area that needs improvement.
Day said that the Buckeyes’ coaching staff used the first bye week to give every player three places where they need to improve. That includes quarterback Justin Fields, who looks like a Heisman Trophy candidate this season.
Through six games, he’s thrown for 1,298 yards and 18 touchdowns while adding another 283 yards rushing with eight touchdowns. His 94.4 quarterback rating sits third in the nation behind Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa and Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts.
Despite the success he’s had in his first year as a starting quarterback, there are still parts of his game that need to grow, even if identifying those aspects is easier said than done.
