A man has been taken to hospital with minor injuries after being stabbed in Piccadilly Gardens.
There was a large police presence in the area tonight following the incident, with pictures and video posted on social media showing a large number of emergency services vehicles and a cordon near to the Spar.
Officers were called to the scene at around 11.30pm this evening following reports of a man with a knife.
Upon their arrival they found a man with minor injuries - he has now been taken to hospital. Police said one man has also been arrested.
A spokesperson for GMP said: "We received reports of a male with a knife in Piccadilly Gardens at 11.30pm. Officers attended and found a male with minor injuries.
We have arrested a suspect and he remains in custody. The injured man was taken to hospital. This was isolated incident."
Tonight's violence comes as Manchester attempts to get back to normal after multiple people were stabbed at the Arndale Centre yesterday morning.
There has been an increased security presence around the city centre today as shoppers turned out as normal.
A total of five victims were taken to hospital after the terrifying attack unfolded shortly after 11.15am on Friday morning.
The injuries sustained by the four who were knifed, were described as 'nasty,' but not life threatening by Greater Manchester's deputy mayor Bev Hughes.
One woman required surgery and remains in hospital for treatment. One man was detained under the Mental Health Act following Friday's attack.
