She’s the ultimate femme fatale who has left a trail of bodies in her wake through two series of Killing Eve.

And now international assassin Villanelle, played by Liverpudlian actress Jodie Comer, has taken on one of most alarming and convincing disguises yet – as a motorcycle cop.

Our exclusive pictures reveal that her intended quarry in the upcoming third series of the hit spy thriller is Machiavellian spy boss Carolyn Martens, played by Fiona Shaw.

Fans will have to wait until the new series is shown to find out what the outcome is of the encounter between Martens and Villanelle. Miss Comer is pictured above during the dramatic scene

While Ms Comer has usually been dressed in the height of fashion for her iconic role, in the photos showing her filming with Shaw in North London last week she is almost unrecognisable in a standard-issue police helmet and high-vis yellow jacket.

Fans will have to wait until the new series is shown to find out what the outcome is of the encounter between Martens and Villanelle.

Season two finished on a cliffhanger, after British spy Eve – played by Sandra Oh – was shot, possibly fatally.

Villanelle had confronted Eve to tell her: ‘You love me. I love you, I do. You’re mine. You are. You are mine.’

But when Eve rebuffed her advances, Villanelle pulled the trigger. The last viewers saw of Eve was her lying motionless, left for dead.

Season three will be shown on the BBC next year. Killing Eve has become an international phenomenon, claiming Baftas and Emmys.

Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge wrote the first series of the spy thriller and Emerald Fennell – who plays Camilla in The Crown – penned season two.

British actress and playwright Suzanne Heathcote is the lead writer for the third series.
