Man City ‘agree’ £51m transfer fee for Riyad Mahrez replacement

Rennes winger and Man City transfer target, Jeremy Doku.

Manchester City are set to sign Jeremy Doku after reaching a ‘verbal agreement’ with Rennes on a transfer fee.

The Belgian winger will join the Premier League champions in a deal worth £51 million (€60m) following their latest bid, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

It’s also reported that Doku has agreed personal terms on a ‘long-term’ contract and is due to have his medical later this week.

The 21-year-old emerged as a target for Man City as Pep Guardiola looks to improve his wide options, following the sale of Riyad Mahrez to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli and uncertainty surrounding the future of Cole Palmer.

Man City have managed to beat Premier League rivals Chelsea and West Ham United to the signing of the highly-rated youngster, who is viewed as a different profile of player to the club’s current wide options given his explosive pace.

The Belgium international will become City’s third signing of the summer window, after confirmed deals for Croatia internationals Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol. The move brings Man City’s transfer spending this summer to £128.5m.
