GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) – 39-year-old Brandi Hall, of Darrow was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Monday, December 26. The deadly accident took place around 3:30 p.m. on US 61.
The two vehicles involved in the accident were a 2008 Nissan Frontier and 2020 Chevrolet Equinox. LSP said that Hall was in the front passenger seat of the Equinox when it was hit by the Nissan Frontier.
The Frontier was driven by Jennie Alexander of Hammond. Alexander was going north while the Equinox was traveling south on the same road, according to the Louisiana State Police.
The driver of the 2008 Nissan Frontier was unable to stay in their lane and hit the vehicle which Hall was in head-on.
Hall was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and died at the crash scene. Alexander was wearing a seat belt when the collision took place on US 61.
LSP said the Hammond native was taken to a local hospital for treatment after sustaining “minor injuries.”
There were two other people in the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox at the time of the crash. The unidentified driver was also not wearing a seat belt and needed to be taken to a local hospital.
A juvenile was wearing a seat belt in the back of the Equinox when the crash happened on Monday afternoon. LSP said the juvenile was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
Jennie Alexander was arrested and charged with the crimes listed below;
- Negligent Homicide
- Negligent Injuring
- Careless Operation
Alexander was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on the same day as the crash.
Investigators are awaiting toxicology results from both drivers involved in this crash.
The investigation into this deadly crash remains ongoing.
