Marouane Fellaini is no Mickey Mouse footballer as Manchester United star poses for GQ magazine shoot

MAROUANE FELLAINI has insisted he is no Mickey Mouse footballer - despite posing for a picture looking bizarrely like the cartoon legend.

Manchester United star Fellaini has always split opinions of the footballing public with his unorthadox style of play coupled with his distinctive haircut.

But the Belgium star has raised eyebrows with his latest look as he posed for a special shoot for the latest edition of magazine GQ Style.

The 30-year-old looked just like Disney icon Mickey Mouse in one snap, to go with an interview in the mag.

And there was more than a hint of Coronation Street character Hilda Ogden in another pic as he donned a headscarf and had his frizzy locks pulled out.

Fellaini insists all those who think he is just a midfield enforcer have got him wrong.

He said: “It think it’s easy for them to portray me as an aggressive player but I’m not. I try to play my game, I try my best to recover the ball quickly: that’s my job.

"Try to be better all the time, to give my best for the team, for the club. I always want to improve.”

United boss Jose Mourinho has been a huge fan of Fellaini since he took over at Old Trafford 18 months ago.

And the feeling is clearly mutual with the player speaking highly of the impact the manager has made on the club and the United squad since his arrival.

Fellaini added: “I’ve learnt a lot with him. Jose is someone who wants to win every game: he pushes players to get the maximum from them.

"He has a very good understanding with his players. He’s a winner.”

Fellaini's contract at Old Trafford runs out at the end of this season and there are doubts whether he will be at the club by the start of the new campaign.

Mourinho has admitted he is unsure whether the former Everton star wants to take up the offer of a new deal, with the prospect of more regular football on offer elsewhere.

Paris Saint-Germain are understood to be a surprise team in the running for his servces, while Besiktas have also been keen to take him to Turkey on a free transfer.
