Latest ICC ODI Men’s Rankings: Williamson enters top ten, Kohli, Rohit drop

ICC ODI rankings

Kane Williamson has re-entered the top ten in the recent ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings, while Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma dropped down a place each.

The New Zealand skipper rose one place up from No.11 after a fine 98-ball 94 in the first ODI against India, which helped the hosts chase down 307 runs with 2.5 overs to spare. Williamson has only batted in six innings in 2022 and had not scored a fifty before his innings in Auckland, but his knock was enough for a place in the top ten ODI rankings.

His teammate Tom Latham was a gainer in the list as well, rising up ten spots to No.18 after scoring an unbeaten 145 off 104 deliveries in the same game. Latham currently has 654 rating points – his career best – and is one of three Kiwis in the top 20, with Martin Guptill positioned at No.20, with 640 rating points.

Rohit and Kohli, who have skipped the ODI series against New Zealand, both dropped down one spot each, and are currently at eight and nine, respectively. However, the India players who are on tour did manage to rise up, with Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill benefiting. Gill, who made 50 and 45* in the first two games is up three places to No.34, while Iyer, who scored 80 and continued his fine run in the format, is at No.27 after rising six places.

In the list for bowlers. Lockie Ferguson rose up to No.32 after ending the first ODI with figures of 3-59. His teammate Trent Boult, who did not feature in the series after being released from his national contract, leads the bowling charts, with 760 rating points, well-clear of second-placed Josh Hazlewood, who has 727 points.

Wanindu Hasaranga too achieved his career-best after his all-round show against Afghanistan. He made 66 in 46 and picked up two wickets in the second ODI, which helped him rise up a spot to eight and achieve his highest of 235 points.
