Last Call: Buy Up To 110,000 World of Hyatt Points At 25% Off Through January 19, 2023

World of Hyatt’s most recent promotion to buy points at a 25% discount is about to end and if so desired you must complete the purchase by January 19, 2023.

Normally members can buy up to 55,000 points every calendar year before any possible bonuses, and Hyatt has several opportunities for buying points throughout the year, but currently the amount was doubled to 110,000 maximum.

The new calendar year has just begun so if you make such a purchase right now it will count toward the entire 2023 allowance to purchase. The limit of 110,000 as an exception will likely go down though after this campaign ends and revert back to 55,000.

You can access this offer and check your bonus or discount on Hyatt’s website here.

Typically, World of Hyatt points sales offer a maximum of 40% bonus or 30% discount during their frequent sales. This current promotion is in line with their usual offers, although if you don’t have a particular use case in mind, I probably won’t buy points just for the sake of it.

The cost of a World of Hyatt point purchased under this offer at 25% off is 1.8 cents each. During the previous sale, the price of a point was 1.68 cents, slightly lower but you still need a good use case to make the value work.

Does it make sense to purchase points at this price?

It only makes sense if you use them at costly Hyatt properties such as the Park Hyatt Maldives, Kyoto, or Tokyo. However, sometimes the lower category properties can often make sense when the paid rates are high. Otherwise, buying at such a high price makes only limited sense.

Award rooms with Hyatt are available as long as standard rooms are available for sale. This means that points are usually a good value if something is going on in the city, bringing the paid rates throughout the roof.

It’s worthwhile to check what the current points rates are if you have a particular stay in mind. With Hyatt now having introduced Peak/Off-Peak awards, there is no longer a firm amount of points, and this can make or break the case if it’s worthwhile to redeem, let alone buy points.

Conclusion

Hyatt sells its points at a bonus or discounts more or less continuously throughout the year. So, if you don’t need World of Hyatt points right now, you can always buy them later when (hopefully) a slightly better offer is around.

Usually, Hyatt alternates their promotional campaigns between a discount and a bonus amount for the points purchases. This is a significantly higher price than what they sold them last time. I would take a pass unless you need points right now.

One exception would be that under the current campaign you’re allowed to buy 110,000 points which is double the amount Hyatt normally allows for the entire year.
