A woman was taken into custody Wednesday morning in connection with the stabbing of a 6-year-old boy at their home in Buffalo, N.Y., authorities said.
The victim was taken to a local children’s hospital after police went to the house and found him bleeding from "multiple stab wounds” to his chest, arms and upper torso, Police Capt. Jeff Rinaldo told reporters at the scene.
The child’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Rinaldo said.
Police rushed to the home shortly before 8 a.m. after a neighbor called 911, according to the captain.
When they arrived, they found the boy and also noticed the 33-year-old mother appeared to have several self-inflicted lacerations to her arms, Rinaldo said.
It was not immediately clear what led to the stabbing or whether the woman and child were the only people at the home.
The mother has not been charged, but the investigation is ongoing.
