Man who killed three pensioners in Exeter cleared of murder by reason of insanity

A paranoid schizophrenic who brutally killed three pensioners hours apart has been found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity.

A jury at Exeter Crown Court found Alexander Lewis-Ranwell not guilty of three charges of murder on Monday. 

The 28-year-old had previously entered not guilty pleas over the deaths of  Anthony Payne, 80, and twins Dick and Roger Carter, 84, on February 10 this year.
