Someone's been naughty.
A sleepy “Drunk Santa” was busted by California cops following an alleged burglary, and officers in the small city of Brea were not shy about displaying a photo of the dozing suspect.
The unidentified man seen sleeping in a jail cell in a Santa Claus suit is a suspect in a burglary that took place at a local church on Tuesday, according to TV station Fox 11. Cops believe that is where he picked up the holiday costume.
“Dear Santa, I’m sorry I stole your red suit,” cops wrote in a jovial post that also featured the photo of the alleged culprit. “I was drunk and made some poor choices. I know it’s only October. And it’s hot. Too hot for this suit. But I was drunk. Poor choices. Sincerely, Drunk Santa Suit Criminal.”
Some people objected to the photo, with one user writing that "the spirit of Christmas isn't about publicly shaming those who have made a poor choice in life."
“Very disappointed that those who serve and protect choose to use their platform to incite judgment upon someone else,” the user wrote. “Ironic. The ‘poor choice’ here was in BPD lack of poor judgment to post a photo of a man (not booking photo) at his expense, eliciting all these type of comments of publicly shaming and scrutiny.”
Others, however, say they were not offended by the photo because the man is a suspect in a crime.
