THERE’S no need to get all hot and bothered about the price of your coffee this autumn.

From pumpkin spice lattes to mint hot chocolate and mulled cider, it is easy to DIY your coffee shop favourites. Here are my top drinks to try.

Cut costs and DIY your favourite seasonal drinks with the help of our top tips[/caption]

A latte of savings: Starbucks’ pumpkin spice latte is £3.15, but you can make dozens for the same price at home. Puree slices of a £1 Sainsbury’s pumpkin and put three teaspoons in a glass.

Add cinnamon and ginger and stir in a shot of espresso. Heat 250ml of Asda’s 49p milk until it is steaming hot, pour into the cup and top with froth. Tesco’s £2.50 ground espresso makes 30 coffees, equalling just 8p each.

Save: Approx £3 on a coffee

Hot stuff: Mulled cider is a nice autumnal treat. Stir apple cider with lemons, cinnamon sticks, berries and orange in a pan before bringing it to a simmer.

Crofter’s £2.50 2l apple cider serves around ten — one glass can sell for a similar price in the pub.

Save: Approx £2 on mulled cider

Sweet deal: Mint hot chocolate is great for non-coffee drinkers. Bring one cup of Morrisons’ 70p double cream and three cups of milk to a simmer, take the pan off the heat, add Tesco’s £1 200g dark chocolate blocks and stir until melted.

Get a minty kick with Sainsbury’s £1.50 peppermint extract. Make six for £3.20 — the same as one coffee shop buy.

Save: Approx £3 on a mint hot choc

Flamin’ good: Recreate Costa’s bonfire latte (caramel and spice, £2.95) by heating 250ml milk and a shot of coffee in a pan and adding in caramel extract and Morrisons’ 55p ground mixed spice.

Costa has a £2.25 Lotus Biscoff muffin to pair with it. You can nab a similar toffee muffin two-pack from Tesco for £1.40.

Save: £1.55 on a muffin

Tod-ally cheap: Under the weather? Make a hot toddy. Stir a shot of whisky and honey together, add half a cinnamon stick and top with 200ml boiling water and a dash of lemon juice.

Sainsbury’s has a great offer on The Famous Grouse whisky, reduced from £19.50 to £16.

Save: £3.50 on whisky

Save: £20.25

Cheap treat

Save: 99p
