Fight outside of gym leads to shooting injuring teen, BRPD says

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A fight led to a shooting in the 1700 block of Stilt Street on Wednesday, Sept. 6. The shooting happened a little after 5:30 p.m. and left a 17-year-old with injuries.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, the fight happened outside of a gym after “the suspect became upset over a basketball game.”

Three people were reportedly inside a vehicle trying to leave the area when it was shot at by the suspect. BRPD said the suspect got the weapon from their vehicle.

The 17-year-old was one of the three people in the vehicle when the shooting took place. “He sustained a bullet graze to his head and leg,” according to the police department.

The teenager is expected to recover and there were no other reported injuries.
