Furious EastEnders fans accuse soap of ‘recycling storylines’ as Square sees it’s FOURTH kidnapping in seven months

The Sun Entertainment 2 months ago

EASTENDERS viewers witnessed terrified Lola Pearce get kidnapped by new bad boy Jags Panesar  last night – but fans have complained that the show is repeating itself.

In fact, there have been FOUR kidnapping plots in just SEVEN months on Albert Square this year.

Jags snatched Lola last night as revenge on Ben

Yesterday’s episode saw Lola being thrown into the back of a van after finding herself caught up in Ben Mitchell’s latest feud.

Ben [Max Bowden] was left shaken last week when Jags [Amar Adatia] and Kheerat [Jaz Deol] showed up on the square and revealed that he had stolen their car as part of his latest money-making scam.

When Ben was unable to source the 10k they demanded, the brothers targeted the mother of his child and tied her up in a warehouse.

This forced Ben to blackmail Martin into helping him get Lola back safe.

But many viewers weren’t impressed by the BBC soap bringing us yet another kidnapping storyline.

Twitter was soon full of reaction to the recycled plot.

One fan posted: “Me when #EastEnders had another kidnapping last night.”

They followed this with a meme of Brenda from Bristol, the woman who went viral in 2017 after moaning “not another one” when quizzed on the news about yet another General Election.

Another claimed the show’s boss is obsessed with the plot device, tweeting: “Kate Oates loves a kidnapping.”

“Kate Oates is obsessed,” seconded a third.

A fourth even slammed the show’s set during the kidnapping scene, adding: “OMG Please! That kidnapping set looked like the dodgy Mexican prison on season 4 of Prison Break there ???? #EastEnders”

Others poked fun at the fact that Jags was singing along to a Little Mix song before snatching Lola.

Keanu was taken by Sharon and Karen

“Well that’s one way to stop kids listening to Little Mix Songs – Use them as theme tune for kidnapping. #Eastenders,” said one.

Another chipped in: “Jags is soooo scary, listening to Little Mix and Kidnapping all at the same time. #EastEnders”

It’s no wonder fans have a sense of deja vu though when it comes to this well-worn abduction plot.

In 2019 alone, it has happened three times before.

2018 started with the kidnapping of Mick

Back in April, Louise Mitchell was bound and gagged in a shipping container by one of dad Phil Mitchell’s enemies, Midge.

Also in April, returning cast member Sean Slater was caught up in a child abduction plot.

He kidnapped ex-wife Roxy Mitchell’s daughter Amy Branning by getting her into the back of his car.

Then, in June, Louise fella Keanu Taylor was snatched.

Mick took revenge on Stuart at the end of 2018

He woke up in an empty warehouse and thought Phil had kidnapped him, but it turned out his mum Karen and fling Sharon were behind it.

They kidnapped him to warn him that Phil would do a lot worse to him if he learned he is the father of Sharon’s baby.

And it’s not just this year that kidnapping has been a hot plot in Walford.

In 2018, there were four more incidents of the same thing.

January 2018 kicked off with Mick Carter being kidnapped by Aidan Maguire and his henchmen.

Then Vincent Herbert was bundled into a boot in April 2018 by fake cop DI Ashworth, then never seen again.

Four months later, young Denny Rickman was abducted by the knife gang he fell in with and, finally, in December 2018, Mick tied up his nemesis Stuart Highway.
