Oprah Winfrey has confessed she didn’t believe she would make it past the age of 56.
The star, who is now 65-years-old, has revealed that a strange dream led her to believe that she would die before turning 60, but she refused to tell anyone about her fear at the time.
When chatting to People magazine, the popular talk show host finally addressed her prediction and how it filled her with dread.
Chatting to the publication, she said: ‘I used to have this dream that I was going to be dead at 56, so the year that I turned 56 I was filled with dread.
‘I had only told one other person that I had a number in my head when I was going to die, and that was Gayle [King, her best friend].’
The actress continued: ‘Gayle said, “What’s the number?” I said, “I’m not going to tell you, because you will drive me crazy and then I will end up dead.”‘
But it turns out she regrets believing her vision as she questioned what she was so scared about after her 57th birthday.
‘When I got to 57, it was like, “Why did all my life I think it was going to be 56?”’ she laughed.
‘At the time I started having this vision of 56, it was when I was in Milwaukee and I was trapped in a world where I could see how dire it was.’
Oprah recently faced a health scare when she was diagnosed with a serious case of pneumonia
She told Elen Degeneres: ‘I came back from overseas and I thought I had a cold, but it wasn’t a cold. I ended up in the emergency room and they said “you have pneumonia”.
‘I go home with pneumonia, and pneumonia is nothing to play with, y’all, it is very serious.
‘I was on antibiotics for a week – the antibiotics weren’t working.’
After seeing a lung specialist, the television producer ended up cancelling her shows and resting for an entire month.
Oprah told Ellen that she got a clear bill of health the day before her interview.
