Her Coronation Street character may be facing an exit from the ITV soap, but it appears that Lucy Fallon is already planning future ventures.
According to reports, the actress, who has played Bethany Platt for five years, is heading for the jungle later this year for I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
ITV remains tight-lipped about this year’s line up, saying this is just speculation and the full list will be officially revealed nearer the time of the series start date.
But she’s hotly tipped by the bookies to take part - they have her at 1/25 odds-on to join the camp Down Under.
Others in the mix are Love Island star Olivia Attwood, Girls Aloud's Nadine Coyle, radio presenter Roman Kemp, and Lucy's Corrie co-star Alan Halsall.
The Sun reports that Lucy, 23, will definitely be a member of this year’s cast.
An ITV source told the tabloid: “Lucy is bubbly, funny, down-to-earth and game for a challenge, so she is a great fit for I’m A Celebrity
“She had conversations last year about taking part but said, ‘Thanks, but no thanks’.
“This year, she told them she feels the timing is right.
“Bosses are delighted to have her on board and are sure she will be a big hit with fans at home and her campmates.”
This, however, goes against what she told ITV’s Lorraine last month about her hopes to sink her teeth in dramas rather than reality shows like Strictly Come Dancing.
“End of January I will leave Corrie but then I will be on screen maybe until March,” she told host Lorraine Kelly in September.
“I’ve got nothing lined up at the moment but we’ll see.
“I think I’d like to focus on doing more acting, dramas and things. Maybe in the future I could do something like Strictly.”
Speaking of her exit from the soap, which is likely to be screened in March, Lucy said she is “excited and nervous” for what the future holds.
She said: “I’ve literally had the best time. I feel like it’s quite cliché and cringe when people say that it’s like a family but we really are. I am going to be devastated but hopefully they’ll keep me in the group chats.
“I’m excited, I’m nervous, we’ll just see what happens.”
