Random House is making the House Intelligence Committee’s report on President Trump’s impeachment into a book.
The publisher told the Associated Press that The Impeachment Report: The House Intelligence Committee’s Report on Its Investigation into Donald Trump and Ukraine will hit shelves as a paperback on Dec. 17 but will be available as an audio download on Dec. 10 and an e-book on Dec. 13.
Presidential historian Jon Meacham, who was President George H.W. Bush’s official biographer, will be writing a forward to the 300-page report, which was released to the public in PDF form on Tuesday.
The committee, led by Democratic Chairman Adam Schiff, said in its report that it found that the president attempted to “use the powers of his office to solicit foreign interference on his behalf in the 2020 election.” It also accused Trump of obstructing Congress and intimidating witnesses during the impeachment investigation.
After special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on the Russia investigation was released to the public, it was also made into book form and topped the best-seller charts.
In 1998, independent counsel Ken Starr’s final report of the Whitewater case was published in a book called The Starr Report: The Findings of Independent Counsel Kenneth W. Starr on President Clinton and the Lewinsky Affair.
Government reports, such as Tuesday’s impeachment report, are not under copyright and can be published by anyone.
