Warren Furman, also known as Ace from Gladiators, has opened up about his "crash down to reality" which saw him going from earning £20,000 a day to £20.

Appearing on This Morning, he described appearing on the hit ITV show as a "dream come true".

The programme ran from 1992 until 2000 and racked up a total of eight series.

Ace joined in series five until the end and enjoyed a jet-set lifestyle full of sports cars, women and first class travel.

He was also engaged to Katie Price in the late 90s, but his life went downhill after the series ended.

Speaking about his new job on a building site, Warren said: "When you've had something like that and it's taken away from you, and you're not earning a living out of it anymore, and all people want to know is daft stuff.

"Well it seemed daft because now I wasn't earning any money. I came crashing down into the real world. I could earn £2,000 an hour, now I'm lucky if I could get £20 an hour.

"And then people are coming over like, 'What's Ulrika like? What's Wolf like?' and in the end I'm like, 'I'm not actually public property any more, I'm just trying to make a living so I don't really want to talk about it anymore.'

He went from earning £2,000 to £20 an hour

"I know that sounds conceited, but I felt like I was living in the past.

Ace also spoke about his relationship with Katie Price, quipping: "We both took our clothes off for a living.

Asked about why the relationship ended, he admitted that they both kept "selling stories.

"I think we were deriving our identities in the media," he said.

*This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30pm on ITV
