The former Take That hitmaker has apparently lived in the dark ages for the past 13 years, which means he hasn’t owned a smartphone ever.

That means, no iPhone 5, 6, 7s or X. Our minds are blown.

But actually life must be pretty peaceful for Robbie without the temptation of scrolling through his Instagram feed.

Could you imagine?!

Speaking on the latest episode of Back of the Net, Robbie revealed: ‘I haven’t owned a phone since 2006.

‘I’m always on my computer, I’ve always got Wi-Fi…I got rid of it because I just don’t like them.’

To be fair, we’d quite happily go back to the golden days of the Nokia 3310.

Robbie’s life is mostly without social media too as, although he has official Instagram and Twitter accounts, they’re managed by other people so he doesn’t put his foot in his mouth.

‘I don’t have my password to anything otherwise my career would be over,’ he admitted.

‘I tell several people what to put on there and then that gets vetted and then it doesn’t go on.

‘It will be like a walkie-talkie to my mum, my dad, my wife or my kids…everything else gets done by email.’

Like we said, the dark ages.

Robbie’s not the only celebrity who’s chosen to literally go hands-free as Kanye West famously didn’t own a phone for years in the mid-noughties.

He eventually gave in and copped himself a smartphone only to get rid of it again in 2018. At the time, the All Of The Lights rapper tweeted: ‘For anyone whose tried to text or call me in the past 2 weeks I got rid of that phone so I could focus on these albums.’

Last year, Sir Elton John admitted he ‘hates’ mobile phones as they provide a lack of privacy.

Speaking on the George Ezra and Friends podcast, the crooner said: ‘I hate mobile phones, camera phones. I don’t go out anymore. There’s no privacy anymore. When I started out there were no mobile phones, no kind of paparazzi, we had it so easy.

‘You can afford to be out of your mind and behave extraordinarily badly in public and no one would be able to take a photograph, which I did many times. Unfortunately that’s all changed with the advent of technology. Going out now is an effort.’

Other stars to shun smartphones include actress Shailene Woodley and Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne.

Perhaps they’ll change their minds as we enter the new decade?
