This Morning viewers slam presenter who said 'donations are flooding in' to flood victims

This Morning viewers weren't impressed when a presenter made a slip of the tongue while reporting on the floods this week.

Hundreds of residents were evacuated over the weekend and Doncaster Council yesterday advised everyone to leave after the area was hit by floods.

Reporter David Blackmore was live on the scene in Bentley Rise in Doncaster when he spoke of how the community was pulling together.

But he had an unfortunate choice of words when he said "donations had been flooding in" to the victims of the floods.

David said: "The focus for the community here is less on the water in their homes but in the aftermath and what happens next.

Reporter David Blackmore had a poor choice of words on This Morning today

"The community here has really rallied around from Friday morning when a business was turned into a community centre, the community has flocked there, donations have been flooding in and slowly but surely people have started to get back into their homes after being evacuated."

This Morning viewers took to Twitter to point out the mistake.

One tweeted: "'Donations have been flooding in' probably wasn't the best phrase to use when talking of the terrible floods in South Yorkshire. "

"Nice choice of words there, pal!!" another posted.

A third said: "Did the bloke reporting on the floods on @thismorning really just say 'donations have been flooding in'?"

The Don, which flows through Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster, hit its highest recorded level at just over 6.3m on Friday.

He spoke to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield live from the studio

The Environment Agency has five 'danger to life' flood warnings in force in England as further downpours ravage the UK this week.

An additional 48 flood warnings and 103 less serious flood alerts have also been issued across England.

The 'danger to life' alerts are in place for the River Don in Yorkshire, while the flood warnings are in north-east, central and south-west England.
