Noel Fielding is moving on from baking to roasts, as he has been confirmed as a guest judge for the new series of Roast Battle UK.
The Mighty Boosh star has joined the Comedy Central show which will be hosted by Jimmy Carr and includes Katherine Ryan as a regular judge.
Other guest judges for each episode will be Richard Ayoade, Big Narstie, Sara Pascoe and Joe Lycett.
Announcing the exciting line-up, Louise Holmes – Vice President and General Manager of Comedy Central UK – said: ‘We’re delighted to welcome Noel, Sara, Joe, Richard and Big Narstie to our resident Roast judges Jimmy and Katherine to create a judging panel of comedy royalty.’
Following the first series – which became the channel’s highest-rated UK commission in history – the fourth run will feature a host of well-known comedians going head-to-head to ridicule and ‘roast’ each other with the judges deciding who wins each battle.
Previous series saw stars including Tom Allen and Suzi Ruffell battle it out with brutal insults and trash-talk to impress the judges.
Holmes added: ‘Series 4 will see the sharpest comedians on the circuit battle each other – with every jaw-dropping moment up for delightful scrutiny by our iconic judges.’
Filming for the show will begin in October in London and will continue to be co-produced by The Late Late Show with James Corden’s Fulwell 73 and IDEASATRON.
Noel will still host the Great British Bake Off with Sandi Toksvig, a job he has had since 2017 when the show moved from BBC to Channel 4.
He also became a father for the first time in 2018, and speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show about his daughter, Noel said: ‘I don’t know how that happened, look at my pointy visage.
‘She is very beautiful and she blows my mind about a hundred times a day. It’s a new level of tiredness that I’ve never experienced. I’ve done a lot of all-nighters in my life. In a way I’ve been in training for this moment all my life.’
While Noel doesn’t usually talk about his private life, he did mention his girlfriend Lliana Bird on Dairy Week of The Great British Bake Off.
After learning that fellow goth Helena was baking a cake shaped as a ghost while wearing pointed black shoes and a vampire brooch, Noel said: ‘I don’t know what to say. I love you.’
Helena joked: ‘I’ve told my husband I’m divorcing him so we can marry on Halloween’, with Noel replying: ‘I’ll tell Birdy today.’
Thankfully, it looks like they’re still solid – ghost cake or no ghost cake.
