Cut-up Dianne Buswell insists axed dance partner Dev Griffin had all the attributes to go far in Strictly Come Dancing .

The popular pair got the boot on Sunday and fans are not happy with the controversial twist.

Some viewers were claiming they couldn't get through on the phone to save them while many hit out at the show for the decision to keep Emma Weymouth and Aljaz Skorjanec.

Dianne was in floods of tears as they took to the dance floor and just stood there, unable to do a last dance.

She took to twitter hours later and said she really felt for Dev.

They looked to be contenders after impressing many
Strictly's Tess and Claudia looked surprised

She wrote: "I’m sure you could all see how much this meant to us.

"I’m truly gutted as @dev_101 really had so much potential and I wanted to teach him so much more. I won’t lie I’m devastated but thank you all so much for your support and dev thank you so much I’m so proud of you xx"

Speaking afterwards, Dev said that he was frustrated to be out so early.

He said: "I’m not going to lie I am absolutely gutted, but learning how to dance, hanging out with Dianne and the other pros and celebs… I’ve absolutely loved it."

A lot of people weren't happy with the outcome

Despite good ratings so far, Strictly may feel the force of viewer backlash after a controversial show.

Many plan to boycott after a decision they claim was unjust.

One wrote on twitter: "Not good Strictly...we Aussies don't like when you do someone wrong. Might have to boycott the show now. Dianne and Dev were robbed!"

Another posted: "I can’t even explain how angry I am at strictly!! Dianne and Dev deserved so much better! boycott now."

Dev was 'absolutely gutted' after their early exit

After the show, Dianne said: "Dev has been absolutely amazing. His work ethic is insane. I see him everywhere practising and I couldn’t have asked for a better partner.

"Thank you so much for all your time and your effort.

"This boy has so much talent, I’m really sad he won’t be able to show you guys any more of it."

*Strictly Come Dancing returns on Saturday 19th October at 6.40pm with the results show on Sunday 20th October at 7.15pm on BBC One
