Coroner called after Thursday night shooting near LSU, officials say

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office was asked to respond after a shooting in the 3100 block of Highland Road, according to EMS. EMS confirmed the shooting happened around 10:45 p.m. on Thursday, May 18.

An LSU spokesperson confirmed that a message was sent out to members of the LSU community at 11:54 p.m. which said, “Police on scene investigating reported shots fired near Highland at Aster. Avoid the area.”

The spokesperson said that the LSU Police Department responded to the scene but is not assisting with the investigation. Members of the Baton Rouge Police Department were seen at the scene. We have contacted BPRD for further details about the shooting.
