Two tiny ‘boyracers’ were tackled to the ground and handcuffed after allegedly driving a stolen car at 75mph.

Bradley Cowper was driving on the Gold Coast of Australia on Boxing Day when he says a Hyndai iMax erratically overtook him at speed.

He decided to follow the van and caught up with it at a set of traffic lights, where he claims he saw two young boys in the front seats wearing gloves and face masks.

The 29-year-old sprung into action and opened the driver’s door, but it crossed the central reservation and sped off in the opposite direction.

He told the Gold Coast Bulletin how he lost sight of the vehicle before finding it and the teens a few miles away after they allegedly hit a kerb.

Mr Cowper said he will never forget their ‘petrified’ faces and how one ‘started begging for his life’.

‘He was like, “my mum’s gonna kill me, this is the first time I’ve ever done anything illegal,”‘ he said.

He carried out a citizens arrest on the boys with the help of two other locals and an off-duty cop, before the police arrived.

Police said the van was stolen from a Brisbane suburb 80km away from where the incident happened and it was stolen a few days ago.

A 13-year-old from Bellmere and a 14-year-old from Upper Caboolture were charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and will appear in Southport Children’s Court at a later date.

Mr Cowper has no regrets about intervening.

‘If no one does anything, nothing will happen. Who’s going to stop (them)?’ he said.
